The government of President Joe Biden will formalize this Wednesday a package of $13,000 millions of dollars to reduce energy and heating costs for low- and moderate-income families.
The plan, which is divided into several packages, will be announced by Vice President Kamala Harris, which contemplates $4,500 million dollars in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
These funds will be administered by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), focused on reducing heating costs for American families this winter.
“LIHEAP funds will go to the states, territories and tribes. In addition to covering home heating costs this winter and unpaid utility bills, the program will help families make cost-effective home energy repairs to lower their heating and cooling bills.”
That is, these services may be requested from the governments of each entity or tribe.
“This support is particularly important during the winter and summer months, since that millions of Americans face extreme weather and natural disasters”, stated the White House.
Another $9,000 Millions of dollars will be allocated to states and tribes under new home efficiency programs.
“Funding from the new rebate program could support up to 1.6 million households across the country in upgrading homes and apartments to lower energy bills, including by installing up to 500,000 heat pumps and making deep modifications in buildings”, it was exposed.
These programs will make these cost saving upgrades more more affordable for low- and moderate-income families.
“With today’s announcement, states can access information on their allocated funding and can begin planning programs to distribute aid to families”, he added.
