Amazon Music will be greatly expanding the music catalog for members of its Amazon Prime subscription service. The world’s largest online store announced this week that members of its subscription service will now have access to 100 millions of songs, shuffled, ad-free and at no additional cost.
Previously, Prime members were only offered an ad-free catalog of two million songs, said Steve Boom, vice president of Amazon Music, according to The Washington Post .
Apple Music offers more than 100 millions of songs and 30 thousand playlists, while Spotify has more than 80 million tracks, including 4.7 million podcasts.
Amazon Prime members will also get most podcasts ad-free, including Wondery’s catalog of premium shows, along with exclusive shows like ‘MrBallen Podcast: Strange, Dark & Mysterious Stories’ and the new original podcast from Keke Palmer ‘Baby, this is Keke Palmer’.
Amazon Music says the decision to increase the catalog after customers pushed for more music. Members will now be able to shuffle any music artist, album or playlist.
“We continue to innovate on behalf of our customers and bring even more entertainment to Prime members, along with the convenience and the value they already enjoy,” Boom said.
This is not the first time that Amazon has increased its profits for Prime members since raising membership fees earlier this year due to inflation.
Remember, in February, Amazon raised the price of annual memberships by $119 to $139 dollars and monthly Prime memberships from $12.99 to $30.99 dollars, which equates to about $180 dollars per year.
