blockbuster,-the-video-store,-will-return-to-los-angeles-as-a-speakeasy-style-bar

For nostalgic millennials, Blockbuster will be back in Los Angeles, but not as a video store, but as a speakeasy-style bar.

The new video rental store-themed pop-up bar is officially licensed by the Blockbuster brand.

It is probable that those who have lived in the years 80, 2000 and early 2000 , remember what it was like to go rent a movie in a pre-Netflix era.

The Blockbuster Speakeasy, as the pop-up bar will be called, will open on 19 of November. According to Food and Wine, the venue promises décor that “recreates every memory of choosing a movie.”

The Blockbuster “membership card” for visitors is used to obtain drinks. Instead of movie aisles marked by genre, there are different categories of drinks.

Visitors can choose drinks inspired by the best films of the years 80 and 2000. You will be able to review the “synopsis” with the drink description on the back before taking your selection to the checkout counter where a Blockbuster bartender will prepare the drink which may include retro drink ingredients; options such as Crystal Clear Pepsi are included.

In the ticket of $45 dollars two tickets for drinks are included and you can redeem using the membership card.

Sandwiches for the hungry cannot be missed. The snacks offered at the bar are like you would find at a classic Blockbuster, candy and popcorn, plus a selection of gourmet snacks. The venue will also be serving Blockbuster Brunch beginning 10 in December.

Adult treats on the menu they include some truffle fries, flatbread and sauces, plus Parmesan cheese balls and risotto. You can also find retro products like ice cream sandwiches.

The new pop-up bar is a collaboration between Bucket Listers and New Gold Empire. The former company is behind the popular The Golden Girls Kitchen, and the latter created the Will Ferrell-themed Stay Classy spot.

Currently, Blockbuster Speakeasy is only planned for Los Angeles, although it is possible that this bar concept will spread to other cities in the United States, as happened with “Golden Girls”.
