A Massachusetts hiker, who went missing after heading out on a solo hike over the weekend, was found dead in New Hampshire Wednesday, according to the New Hampshire Division of Game and Fish Law Enforcement and Operation Game Thief.
Emily Sotelo, years old, was found on the side northwest of Mount Lafayette, Franconia, after hiking up Franconia Ridge on Sunday morning.
A relative had reported Sotelo missing when he did not return at the scheduled time.

Sotelo was dropped off at Lafayette Place Campground in Franconia, New Hampshire on Sunday morning. She planned to climb Mount Lafayette, Haystack and Flume in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, according to police.
Three search teams were dispatched to search for her Sunday night, but temperatures throughout from the ridge where I was walking were around zero degrees with winds from 30 to 40 mph, according to the Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue Team, which assisted with search efforts.
“Due to severe weather conditions, a search began on Sunday afternoon and [during] the night. Searchers were hampered by high winds, low temperatures and snow,” the New Hampshire Division of Fish and Game Law Enforcement and Operation Game Thief said in a statement Wednesday.

Searchers spent two days looking for Sotelo before finding footprints and some of his belongings at the head of Lafayette Brook on Tuesday. Her body was found Wednesday morning.
A New Hampshire Army National Guard helicopter was able to assist with Sotelo’s extradition to the Cannon Mountain ski area, according to police. The authorities did not release any information about Sotelo’s cause of death.
