The dispute that Canelo Álvarez maintains with Lionel Messi after he allegedly trampled on the shirt of the Mexican team in a locker room continues and now has a new chapter after the boxer spoke for the first time after he published his controversial tweets.
His first statements were made on the program El Mundial Que Importa on Imagen TV Deportes, in which Canelo opened up and said that he clearly does not expect an apology from the Argentine but that is what he should to do because in his opinion he was the one who failed.
“I don’t need him to say it, I don’t expect that nor am I going to expect it. I don’t care if Messi says one thing, I will always defend my country. That’s how I am and that’s how I’ll always be. I would just tell him what it is: ‘you screwed up, bastard and accept it and ask for an apology’, if he doesn’t slap him a bitch and that’s it,’” he said.
