The person who won the $1.8 million jackpot on Thanksgiving Day in the Cash 5 draw in North Carolina bought the ticket online.

This was reported by the Lottery North Carolina School of Education on its website.

The winner was identified as Matthew Huber of Raleigh.

The resident purchased the ticket in “Online Play” at the Lottery website before heading to his family’s Thanksgiving dinner. The new millionaire invested $1 in exchange for the winning ticket.

The next morning, Huber received an email from the Lottery informing him of the win.

“ It was amazing,” Huber described. “I thought, ‘oh my gosh,’ and then I called my wife to check. It’s something you never expect to see, but want to see. It’s phenomenal, the best Thanksgiving”, declared the millionaire.

Huber went to the lottery headquarters on Monday to claim the prize. After applying state and federal taxes, the winner kept the sum of $1,320,962.

The winner matched the five numbers required to obtain the jackpot. The probability of the above is 1 in 2021,320. The player had 320 days from the date of the draw to claim the money.

From 19 April 2021, the North Carolina Lottery was not reporting a Cash 5 jackpot winner.

In that drawing, two women from Charlotte they shared the cut of $2.1 million dollars.
