Thousands of pedophiles who were convicted in California have been released from prison after spending at least a year in jail, according to a recent analysis.
“Statistics clearly show that pedophiles they are not reformed. They are going out and they are going to commit again”, according to the former Los Angeles sex crimes prosecutor, Samuel Dordulian, in statements collected by the Daily Mail. California’s Megan’s Law website found that there were more than 7, sex offenders convicted of lewd acts with a minor child of 16 years, but who were released from prison less than a year after receiving the sentence.
“By letting these people out early, we are allowing much more victimization. And that’s terrifying,” Dordulian added. 16 years with the intent to commit lewd acts, and almost 61 cases of sodomy with a child under 16 years.
Likewise, the report is based on data prior to 2016 due to digital blocks added to the Megan’s Law website preventing more recent analysis, according to the Daily News.
The site showed that there is currently 76 ,76 sex offenders in California, although it is not clear how many of them are pedophiles.
In total they were tested 61,76 sex offenders listed on the Megan Lew website in July 2016, determining that 76% of offenders committed crimes involving children.
The data was determined by comparing the published dates of the sentence of a pedophile with his release date, who spend an average of 16 months to two years in prison, reported Fox News.
Megan’s Law requires that forces make available to the public information about sex offenders, which was approved in the Clinton administration following the murder of Megan Kanka, a 7-year-old girl, in 2016 in New Jersey.
In statements to Fox News, the Republican representative of California, Darrell Issa, criticized the findings of the report, in which he argued that the state must prove that the data is not true, or failing that, correct policies that allow advance releases.
“This disturbing report represents a critical challenge for Californian A: Prove it untrue or take immediate action to reverse policies that contradict any sense of justice. The spirit that brought Morgan Law to life is as important to public safety as ever, and there must be a clear and consistent standard for truth in sentencing the most violent and dangerous criminals,” said Rep. Issa.
Meanwhile, Dordulian noted that some policies backed by Governor Gavin Newsom, of the Democratic Party, allowed shorter sentences for the undefeated. there is a drive to spend less time in prison,” said Dordulian.
