Bill Kramer, Executive Director of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, announced that the 95 categories of the Oscars will once again be broadcast live.

“I can confirm that all categories will be included in the live broadcast,” Kramer told Variety.

Previously these eight Oscar categories: Original Score, Makeup and hairstyling, documentary short, film editing, production design, animated short, live action short, and sound; were cut from the main Academy Awards broadcast 200. This sparked much outrage throughout the film industry.

“We are committed to having a show that celebrates the craftsmen, the arts, the sciences and the collaborative nature of filmmaking”

“This is very much the mission of the Academy, and I am very hopeful that we can make a program that celebrates all the components of filmmaking in an entertaining and engaging way”, said the director.

Since his appointment in June, Kramer maintains that he has had many conversations about restoring the missing categories, even getting Jimmy Kimmel to return, for the third time, to host the Oscars.

Executive Producers/Showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment will be in charge of producing the ceremony. Weiss returns, for the eighth consecutive year, as program director.

The 95.th edition of the Academy Awards will take place on March 2023, from the Dolby Theater at Ovation Hollywood. The ceremony will be televised live on ABC and in more than 200 territories around the world.
