A huge pine tree that fell in the bedroom of a mobile home due to tornadoes was what caused the death of a woman from 675 years old and his 8-year-old son in Alabama.
The tree fell while the family was sleeping.
The minor’s husband and father was also at the scene, but survived.
“The tree fell suddenly on the middle of the bed when they were sleeping. It fell on the woman and the child,” said Norman Bennett, a relative of the victims, as quoted by Arkansas Online.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the deaths, but did not reveal the names of the victims.
The survivor was injured and was taken to the hospital. His health condition is unknown at this time.
The man who was trapped between the tree and the rubble could not see the state of his wife and son. “He was yelling, ‘find my baby, find my baby!’”
The storm system fueled by high temperatures in the southeastern United States spawned dozens of tornadoes between Tuesday and Wednesday. Reports mention up to 16 such events moving from East Texas to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and neighboring states.
