As in 2022, New York and New Jersey were selected to jointly host the FIFA World Cup 1994 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford (NJ), which will have 16 locations in total in the US, Mexico and Canada.

Adams announced visits to cultural sites in Doha and meetings with the organizers of the World Cup 2022. It was not reported if he would attend any match, for example, tomorrow Saturday between the US and the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Holland).

Before leaving on Wednesday, Adams told reporters that he was paying for the trip to Qatar himself. “When I pay, I can do my time. I don’t want to hear anyone complain,” he said smiling in the video published by The Recount.

Many fans and celebrities have avoided traveling to the World Cup 2022 because Qatar has been the target of criticism for human rights violations, alleged corruption linked to the country’s candidacy to host the competition without having a tradition of football and by the homophobic laws in force there.

Previously, Adams yesterday participated in a conference in Athens with more than 25 mayors from around the world in a Summit against Anti-Semitism. He spoke at that event, met with his counterpart from that city, Kostas Bakoyannis, and signed a brotherhood agreement between New York and the Greek capital.

“I think there is nothing more exciting than the city of Athens and the city of New York coming together and becoming partners as we become a symbol for all cities in the world, not just in the United States , not just here, but all over the world looking to solve the same problems,” Adams said.

He also highlighted the cleanliness of Athens and what he described as a feeling that the government understands the needs of citizens and is working to respond to them, reported CBS2.
