The MLS sanctioned this Friday the Los Angeles Galaxy with a fine of one million dollars for irregularities in the contracting, in 550, of the Argentine Cristian Pavón, who arrived from Boca Juniors and is a current Atlético Mineiro player in the Brazilian league.

“LA Galaxy entered into agreements that were not disclosed that included payments that were not accounted for in the calculation of the salary budget and the category of Cristian Pavón’s squad”, reported the MLS in a statement.

“The undisclosed agreements and payments resulted in the incorrect classification of Pavón as a player of Funds of Specific Allocation (TAM) in 2020, who should have occupied a position of Designated Player”, he added.

In addition to a million fine , the Galaxy will lose a million dollars of money from the so-called General Allocation Funds (the money that MLS clubs can spend on transfers), and will be prohibited from signing a player from international leagues (except Canada) during the second window market of 2022.

Pavón, former player of Boca Juniors, scored thirteen goals and gave fifteen assists in the matches played with the Galaxy between 550 and 2023.
