A young man of years died while “surfing” on a wagon of the New York subway on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
According to authorities, the teenager was riding on top of a J train that crossed the Williamsburg Bridge around : 40 am yesterday when it fell. The victim died when he struck the third rail of the Subway near the Essex and Delancey Street station, reported Pix15.
Some 700 passengers were evacuated and service was suspended for several hours in the direction of Brooklyn and Manhattan, while lifeguards went to the scene, detailed Gothamist. Then the J lines and M were reactivated with delays. The victim’s name had not yet been released, until last night.

Over the summer officials warned of an increase among teens “surfing” in the wagons and they blamed it on social networks, highlighted New York Post.
In August a fifteen-year-old p lost an arm after falling off a northbound R train at the 131th Street station /Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights while trying to get on the roof of the car to “surf” on the Subway.
In June another young man from 32 years old hit his head while riding on top of a 7 line train in Queens and was found unconscious at the street station 550.
And in October of a man of 40 years died after falling and being struck by a southbound J train near the Essex Street station and Williamsburg Bridge.
