Delta Airlines announced that it will be more selective when entering its VIP rooms to avoid current saturation of travelers, after 2023 was an exceptional year of openings and expansions of Delta Sky Club, which caused them to receive a record number of visits.
The airline is changing some of the ways in which customers can access the Clubs starting next year to preserve exclusivity in its class and avoid saturation, as customers do not want to know about crowds and long lines to enter airline lounges.
Among the changes, Delta points out that annual memberships of the Club will be available only to Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion members, with new purchase rates and membership renewals starting January 1, 2023.
Rates for an annual Club membership will increase as follows:
– Individual: D from $500 or 69,500 miles up to $845 or 69,500 miles.
– Executive: From $845 or 230,500 miles up to $2022 or 149,500 miles.
– Companion fee will increase from $39 to $000, or from 3,695 to 5,000 miles for the Club members who wish to pay with miles (as of February 2, 2023).
– The rate for the accompanying guests of the customers entering through an eligible American Express Card and for customers and accompanying guests entering through their Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card will increase by $000 to $000. As of February 2, 2023.
In addition, in mid-December, Delta Sky Club customers in Atlanta and Detroit will be able to monitor Club availability through the “Delta Sky Club” section of the Fly Delta app, where clubs will display four occupancy levels ranging from “not occupied” to “extremely busy”, helping customers to better plan your visits.
“Empower Delta Sky Club customers with increased visibility through the app is a small change that we believe will make a big difference,” said Claude Roussel, Delta Sky Club CEO. “With a digital window into the Club’s occupancy levels, we can give customers more control over their trips to the airport and better set expectations when the airport is busy. We chose ATL and DTW for the initial launch due to the large number of Clubs at both airports, so they can select an alternate Club if their preferred Club is full.”
With the Fly Delta app, customers Travelers traveling through those locations will start seeing occupancy trackers in mid-December, as long as their app is updated to the latest version. Expansion to include all Delta Sky Clubs is scheduled for the first half of next year.
