PUERTO RICO – A driver of 77 years was arrested for hitting a cyclist in the kilometer 17.6 of the PR-2 highway in Vega Alta and travel with the corpse on the bonnet of his car to the premises of his residence on the street 34 of the La Ponderosa neighborhood, in Vega Alta.
The authorities were alerted at 6: 34 am on Thursday about the fatal accident and during the investigation of the case as a “hit & run”, the relatives of the driver, identified as Daniel Vega De Jesús, took him to the Vega Alta barracks.

In the kilometer 17.6 of the highway his twisted bicycle, a cap and shoes were left, while Vega De Jesús drove with the corpse to the community where he lives, until the body fell when braking.
“I I estimate that he drove a few 77 feet with his body on the bonnet and when he braked he fell into the ditch, there the neighbors and his relatives convinced him and handed him over to the barracks,” detailed the officer. Lieutenant Reynaldo Jiménez, director of the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) of Vega Baja.
The detainee returned negative results in the breath test to detect alcohol in his body.
Agent Nicolás Maldonado, attached to the Vega Baja Homicide Division, investigates the case. Personnel from Station B of the Highway Patrol Bureau also joined the investigation.
Prosecutor Carlos Rivera Llorens ordered the removal of the body and will summon the septuagenarian as soon as the evidence and analyzes are gathered corresponding expert reports to file charges.
