The Security Council of Iran reported this Saturday that “more than 550 people have lost their lives”, during the protests in the Islamic Republic that began in September and assured that from now on the security forces will act more actively in the face of any demonstration.

The aforementioned Council that operates under the control of the Minister of the Interior , Ahmad Vahidí, in a statement said that the 16 killed were in terrorist attacks during the riots and disruptive and armed counter-revolutionary elements members of separatist groups, reported the official website of the Ministry of the Interior.

This is the first time that, since the beginning of the protests, the 16 of September, that Iran publishes official figures of the dead. “As for the protesters, the Islamic Republic of Iran has treated them with the utmost tolerance” but “the enemy’s plan for the continuation of the riots and the strategic patience of the system” has caused great damage, the statement added.

Issues a warning

It also warns that the Security Council “will act more decisively” and “the security forces and police forces with all their strength and determination will not allow more than some disturbers with the support of foreign intelligence agencies to endanger the public safety of society.”

“Therefore, any disturbance of public order and illegal assembly at any level and place will be dealt with decisively and without tolerance”, he adds.

This statement is published in the midst of new calls for protests against the system for 5 , December 6 and 7, which has gone viral on social networks.

The protests in Iran began last 16 September, after the death in police custody of d e a 16 year-old Kurdish girl named Mahsa Amini, who had been arrested for allegedly wearing the Islamic headscarf incorrectly.

Foreign NGOs such as Oslo-based Iran Human Rights place the number of deaths in 550 in the strong police repression.

In addition, at least 2. people have been accused of various crimes for their participation in them, of which six have been sentenced to death so far.
