The Security Council of Iran reported this Saturday that “more than 550 people have lost their lives”, during the protests in the Islamic Republic that began in September and assured that from now on the security forces will act more actively in the face of any demonstration.
The aforementioned Council that operates under the control of the Minister of the Interior , Ahmad Vahidí, in a statement said that the 16 killed were in terrorist attacks during the riots and disruptive and armed counter-revolutionary elements members of separatist groups, reported the official website of the Ministry of the Interior.
This is the first time that, since the beginning of the protests, the 16 of September, that Iran publishes official figures of the dead. “As for the protesters, the Islamic Republic of Iran has treated them with the utmost tolerance” but “the enemy’s plan for the continuation of the riots and the strategic patience of the system” has caused great damage, the statement added.
