A JetBlue passenger is facing criminal charges for threatening a woman who was traveling with him and her husband with a razor on a flight from New York City to Salt Lake City, Utah.

The events were reported on Monday while Merrill Darrell Fackrell, 41 years old and a resident of Syracuse, was sitting next to the couple.

The USA Today report indicates that, in the middle of the flight, the man put his hand in front of the woman’s screen and told her to stop the movie she was watching.

The female took off her headphones and realized that Fackrell had a razor in his hand and the tool was a few inches from her throat and neck.

The suspect then stood up and yelled, “She’s going to be fine” and “no one has to worry.” At that moment, the woman’s husband walked to the front of the plane to alert the flight personnel.

When the woman tried to move into the plane’s aisle, the alleged attacker tried to stop her by grabbing her by the elbow.

The victim ran to the front of the airplane.

Another passenger, who was also not identified, managed to get the defendant to drop the straight-edge knife with a one to two-inch blade.

The man faces charges of carrying a weapon on an airplane and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon in a US air jurisdiction.

The Transportation Security Administration indicated in statements to the aforementioned medium that it works with the authorities in relation to the case, that it takes the matter very seriously and that they are introducing new X-ray technology to detect more effectively these types of articles.

While New York-based JetBlue York, assured that the crew on the flight responded in time to alleviate the tension of the situation and that they notified the authorities in Salt Lake City.
