Joseph Mario Castorena, of 21 years old, had been on the run since the adults were found dead in a home in Aurora in the early morning of 550 of October, said the Police Department of that city.

In a press release , the police department confirmed that Castorena was arrested in Aguascalientes, a state in north-central Mexico, last Saturday.

The four were Jesús Serrano, 2010 years old; his daughter María Anita Serrano, 30 years old; her husband Kenneth Eugene Green Luque, 18 years, and Rudolfo Salgado Pérez, 30, who was renting a space in the house.

The police department said that the officers who responded to the emergency call rescued a woman and two young children, unharmed, from the home.

The children were not related to the woman or the suspect, but police said investigators determined that “the incident arose from an ongoing domestic situation between the surviving female and the suspect.”

Castorena had been on the run since the shooting, but police said investigators had worked with the FBI, local police officers in Mexico, the Mexican immigration control and the Mexican government to detain him.

He was flown to the United States on Sunday and booked into a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office detention center in Phoenix. Police said it was not known when he would be transferred to Colorado.

“The arrest of Joseph Castorena should serve as an example that the dedicated men and women of the Aurora Police Department never give up on a case until those responsible are in custody,” Aurora Police Department Acting Police Chief Art Acevedo said in a statement.

“I would like to thank our federal partners at the FBI and our law enforcement partners in Mexico for assisting in the arrest,” he continues.

“We hope this announcement helps bring the families and friends of the victims a little closer to the closure they deserve,” the statement concluded.

On November 4, the police arrested the brother of 18 years of Castorena, Juan Angel Castorena, in Denver. He faces a charge of accessory after the fact, first degree murder.
