Anthony Hopkins is celebrating triple: New Years, his 85th birthday and having reached 45 years of sobriety.
And for this, the actor has opened up about his battle against alcoholism with an inspiring message for anyone who may be going through difficulties like him.
Hopkins took to social media to remind fans to “be kind” to themselves and be proud of who they are.
“This is a message that is not meant to be heavy, but I hope it is useful. Seek help. I am a recovering alcoholic. And for you, I know that there are people who fight, ”she said by means of a video.
“In this age of cancellation, hate, and disengagement, kids being bullied, I say to this: be kind to yourself, be kind. Stay out of the loop of toxicity with people if they offend you. Live your life, be proud of your life,” he noted.
“I just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and also to say, I’m celebrating 47 years of sobriety today.”

The Oscar-winning actor for his performance in “The Father” wanted nothing more than to honor the milestone and finally explained the wake-up call that led him to make the decision to stop drinking.
“47 years ago, I was in dire straits and probably not long to live. I just recognized one day that there was something really wrong with me. But I didn’t realize it was a condition type. A mental, physical, emotional condition called alcoholism or addiction,” she expressed.
Anthony has repeatedly opened up about his sobriety in interviews and other appearances.
In 2018, speaking to some 500 students at the University of California, the “Silence Of The Lambs” star opened up about his problems with alcohol and the impact it had on his early career. He also said that he changed his life after a conversation with a woman from Alcoholics Anonymous in 1975.
“Why don’t you just trust God?” she asked him. From then on the urge to drink “never came back,” said Anthony Hopkins.
