An Oregon woman is facing multiple criminal charges after she threw a 3-year-old girl onto the rails of a train.
Breanna Workman, 32, was charged Thursday with charges of assault, attempted assault, interfering with public transportation, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment of another person.
In the unprovoked attack reported Wednesday afternoon, the suspect pushed the girl onto the MAX train tracks from a Gateway Transit Center platform in northeast Portland, local media such as KATU reported.
“A mother and her child were waiting for the MAX train when Workman allegedly pushed the three-year-old from the platform and onto the MAX train tracks without provocation,” the Multnomah County District Sheriff’s Office said.
The victim fell face down on the surface of metal and rocks. Although she was rescued immediately, she suffered from a severe headache and a red mark on her forehead.
The attack was caught on a TriMet surveillance camera.
One of the charges filed against Workman allows her to be held in custody before the start of the trial. The Prosecutor’s Office for her part asked the Court that the woman remain in custody without the right to bail.
