sectors-that-will-have-the-greatest-demand-for-workers-in-new-york-in-2023

To find out which jobs will be most in demand in 2023 and beyond, the New York Post consulted with recruitment experts from ManpowerGroup, as well as recruitment software company iCIMS and the New York City Economic Development Commission.

With the information collected, it was revealed that the jobs with the greatest future are those in the following sectors:

Health care

With more and more seniors in New York more prone to disease, and viruses like COVID and RSV have been wreaking more havoc on an already congested medical system, the need of male and female nurses will be increasing.

Jim McCoy, senior vice president of business solutions for Manpower Group, said nursing schools are full, but still not enough graduates to meet national or city demand. The same goes for physical and occupational therapists.

This is a good job niche that you could enter if you have a vocation.

Restaurants and hospitality

61.7 million tourists are expected to visit New York in 2023, Tiffany Townsend, executive vice president of global communications for NYC & Company, told the New York Post. That means the city will need workers to be able to provide millions of food services, hotel stays and entertainment options.

Food service jobs range from cooks, sous-chefs, bakers, butchers, supermarket managers, and even cake decorators. Pay ranges from $15 an hour to over $200,000 a year.

recreational cannabis

The arrival of this industry in New York will bring with it a variety of jobs: from budtenders (customer service sellers of cannabis products), retail dispensary managers and security guards; to growers, growers, trimmers, production workers and more.

Damian Fagon, director of capital for the New York State Office of Cannabis Administration, predicts that the recreational cannabis market will be huge and therefore opportunities for career growth are substantial. Pay rates vary, you can get anywhere from minimum wage to a six figure salary.
