Winters in the United States continue to worsen with a new alert for snow storms, tornadoes, and frosts in southern, central, and western states, the National Weather Service and other specialized agencies reported.
AccuWeather reports a powerful storm that is about to unleash “severe weather in the south with snow and ice further north and west”, areas where even serious snow problems have already been reported.
The most affected states will be Northern California, Texas, Idaho, Minnesota, Colorado, Utah, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, among others.
“Winter storm warnings have been issued from the Rocky Mountains to the Great Lakes to cover expected heavy snow and ice,” the report states.
On the California coast, the storm was reported to start with torrential rains and snow in the mountains, but its path will continue over the Four Corners region and this Monday it is expected to arrive southwest to northeast through the middle section of the country.
“As warm, moist air is catapulted into the southern and central states earlier in the week that results in torrential rain and severe weather, but the tail end of the storm will see cold and snowy conditions that will they will seep into the northern plains and eastern Rocky Mountains,” AccuWeather meteorologist Nicole LoBiondo said.
In some states between six and 12 inches of snow are expected, but since it has already snowed in those states for a few days, the accumulation will be greater.
Road trips, mainly, will be affected, but also flights.
The report adds that one of the highest rainfall of the season is expected in Minneapolis.
In the states of the east coast, such as New York, the temperature will increase, but there will be rain, an effect of the same storm, it was indicated.
