Through the GoFundMe platform, a campaign has been launched to raise funds in order to pay for the funeral of former Dominican basketball player Sergio Bidó García, stabbed to death in the Bronx.
The campaign was created by Héctor Díaz, one of the athlete’s best friends, and its goal is to raise $20,000 to cover expenses.
So far they have managed to raise $12,242 dollars from the 160 donors who have contributed for the burial.
“We are doing this to give him the funeral he deserves, from his friends who will love him forever,” the GoFundMe campaign description reads.
The date of the wake is still unknown, and it has not been decided whether they will bury him in the United States or transfer him to the Dominican Republic.
One of the versions of the event indicates that Bidó García received a stab wound to the neck and another to the chest during an argument with another man in a public parking lot on College Avenue in the Bronx.
A woman was also injured in the event with a stab wound to the chest, but she is out of danger.
