Rayados de Monterrey does not give up on the search for new players to strengthen its ranks for the start of the Clausura 2023 tournament of the Liga MX after confirming the departure of César Montes, so the team has begun the search for a figure who can comply with ownership and provide La Pandilla with the necessary security at the goal.
The one chosen by the board of directors and especially the technical director, Víctor Manuel Vucetich, would be the young defender of the Xolos de Tijuana Víctor Guzmán; The player aroused the interest of the club due to his style of play and delivery on the field.
In a recent press conference in which Vucetich spoke about the start of the season and the game they will play this weekend, the Rayados de Monterrey strategist highlighted that they have had conversations with the Tijuana board to take over the services of this figure for this tournament and possibly the remainder of the year.
“In the case of Guzmán, it is one of the options that we have had in the defensive sector, we are talking about Guzmán from Tijuana, so elements have been considered and it is one of those that have been observed, as well as Chávez, it is the same situation ”, Vucetich said at the press conference.
Despite this, King Midas stressed that another of the team’s possible plans is to place Luis Romo as the institution’s central defender due to his good physical performance and ability to react to any danger. Vucetich shared with Romo in his time with the Gallos Blancos de Querétaro, so he knows his playing qualities very well.
“In the case of Romo, he starts as a central defender, that’s where he started working with us in the middle, he has a good reading to start, with arguments to play in midfield, Luis is considered a central defender, we have taken that precaution with him, without so much throwing it forward, that it dedicate itself to the defensive sector. Of the reinforcements, they are adapting well, they fit in well, Jordi has that very similar way of participating as Pizarro’s, with mischief, which can dethrone the defensive sector, ”he commented.
“Govea is another characteristic, he has a mid-distance shot, a long stroke, little by little they are participating, we are identifying them more fully, Jordi made his debut with me in Querétaro, I have extensive knowledge to get more resources from him,” concluded the strategist.
Rayados de Monterrey, which stands as one of the favorites to become the Clausura 2023 champion, will begin its journey in the tournament against Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara on Saturday, January 7 at the BBVA stadium.
