Disney CEO Bob Iger has addressed the company’s hybrid employees to announce that they must return to work at the office four days a week, according to an email seen by Fox Business.
After the pandemic, remote work seems to be losing momentum and on this occasion Disney is another of the companies that is determined that its collaborators carry out their activities from physical facilities and no longer in their homes.
According to the letter, all hybrid employees of The Walt Disney Company must report to the offices as of March 1, to work Monday through Thursday.
Iger said he has been meeting with various teams at Disney since returning to the company and highlighted the benefits of working in person.
“As you have heard me say many times, creativity is the heart and soul of who we are and what we do at Disney,” Iger said.
“In a creative business like ours, nothing can replace the ability to connect, observe, and create with peers that comes from being physically together, nor the opportunity to grow professionally by learning from leaders and mentors,” added the manager.
The CEO also asked the workers to stay tuned for more information on the matter.
Iger had already been CEO of Disney from 2005 to 2020 and stepped down to be replaced by Bob Chapek for a brief stint from 2020 to 2021, when the Covid pandemic triggered lockdowns around the world. In November 2022, he returned to take the reins of the entertainment company with great challenges in which he required working side by side with his collaborators.
“As we embark on a new year, Disney’s historic 100th anniversary and all the opportunities that lie ahead, we have many reasons to be excited about the future,” Iger wrote to employees. “Certainly, this is a time of tremendous change, for our company, for our industry and for the global economy, but despite the challenges, deep down I remain optimistic.”
