neither-the-giants-nor-the-mets:-carlos-correa-would-be-about-to-sign-with-the-minnesota-twins-for-$200-million-and-six-seasons

Another chapter of Carlos Correa’s novel opens and after so much waiting by the New York Mets to make the initial 12-year and $315 million deal official, a new player comes into dispute, the Minnesota Twins would have offered a very juicy to the boricua according to nearby sources.

First it was the San Francisco Giants who went looking for the infielder offering him $350 million for 13 years, but a call to attention in the physical exams made the Bahía team give up on continuing with the agreement, that’s when the New York Mets come in and offer 12 seasons in exchange for $315 million; but the same problem, an injury that Correa has been dragging since 2014 meant that both teams did not finalize the deal.

Now the new team that entered the bid were the Twins, with whom Correa already played the 2022 campaign, performing well with an average of 291, 64 RBIs and 152 hits in 136 games. The American League ninth has reportedly offered a 6-year, $200 million deal, making it possible for the Puerto Rican to stay in Minnesota.

The agreement could even reach $270 million, which will depend on the player’s physical condition, who has remained healthy in recent seasons, although his operation on his right ankle is still worrying.

Less years, more salary

With this possible agreement, Correa will be tied to a contract for fewer seasons but in turn will have a better salary per year. With San Francisco the shortstop would have earned $26.9 million per year, with the Mets $26.2 million; while with Minnesota the figure rises to $33.3 million per year.

In this way Carlos Correa could become the second highest paid shortstop in the MLB, only behind his compatriot Francisco Lindor who receives $34.1 million a year in the New York Mets.
