pep-guardiola-praised-gareth-bale-after-his-retirement:-“he's-had-a-great-career,-now-he'll-be-a-fantastic-golf-player”

The technical director of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, took the press conference he had on Monday about the news of his team to make an aside and talk about the recently announced retirement of the Welsh footballer Gareth Bale.

Guardiola had no other words than praise for Bale, whom he faced on several occasions in his career and who he now assured will possibly become a “great golf player” due to Bale’s love for the sport.

“What a footballer. He has had a great career and won many titles. He has represented Wales over 100 times. He is now going to be able to become a fantastic golf player”, expressed the Spanish coach.

The strategist also recalled that at some point he was willing to play golf with him but that both of their schedules were busy, but now will be a good time to agree again.

“Before he was very busy, now maybe he can. I will invite him back,” she added.

Lastly, Guardiola also responded to the question from some correspondents about whether he ever tried to sign him for the teams he led, but he assured that his record was always “very expensive”.

On several occasions Bale and Guardiola saw each other’s faces, both when the Catalan led Bayern Munich and Manchester City in the Champions League against Real Madrid and when Bale was loaned to Tottenham for a season from the Merengue club.

The Welsh footballer announced his retirement on Monday after a 17-year career in which he won, among many other titles, five European Cups.
