remote-work-in-the-united-states:-how-feasible-it-is-to-do-two-at-the-same-time

According to data collected by Resume Builderof 1,250 remote or hybrid employees who allegedly work full time in the United States, about 79% do so for two different companies without either knowing.

However, there are no legal implications for people whose objective is to obtain additional income through two or more jobs, as long as they do not harm third parties with their actions.

Some state laws even prohibit employers from interfering with the wishes of people who aspire to generate more financial resources outside of their regular work hours.

However, there are those who carry out their remote work activities during the same hours, something that may not be ethical at first, since it implies stealing time and full attention from the two employers for whom they work.

To prevent a remote employee from working for two companies at the same time, some companies have clear policies that establish the expectations of their collaborators during working hours, such as the concept of exclusivity that they usually put before labor contracts.

In tax terms, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) doesn’t care how many jobs a taxpayer may have or how they earn their income, their only requirement is that they be reported accurately.

So if a person works for two different employers, they will receive two W-2 forms.

In the case of having a contract job and an additional one as if they were self-employed, the taxpayer must report the employer’s wages with a W-2 and have a separate Schedule C for their income from any activity carried out on their own account.

It is striking that there are virtually no deductions for taxpayers who only receive standard wage income from their employers.
