The Argentine midfielder and Atlanta United player, Thiago Almada, confessed that he is excited about the possible arrival of Lionel Messi in Major League Soccer (MLS).

The Qatar 2022 world champion stated that although he wants Messi to play in the American league, the decision about his future will depend only on what the Argentine star wants.

“Hopefully he can come and play in this league. It would give MLS another growth,” Almada said during a press conference.

“But it’s his future and he will decide where he wants to play,” added the midfielder, praising Messi as the best player in the world and a “great person.”

This Tuesday the MLS celebrated in San José, California, the ‘Media Day’ of 2023, where an official open day is held for the media as part of the next season that starts on February 25.

During his first season in MLS, Almada scored six goals and produced 12 assists. For this 2023 he wants to replicate what he achieved in Qatar with the Argentina team.

“It was crazy what I lived in those days. It is inexplicable how the World Cup turned out. What I would bring Atlanta here is humility and the hunger to want to win something and give the club a title, ”he said.
