A few hours before the NFL American Conference final between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio City Mayor Aftab Pureval posted a video on his social media joking about Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahome.
In the video, Pureval claims that Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is the father (sportsmanlike) of Mahomes and joked that: “Burrow was asked to take a paternity test to determine if he is the father of Mahomes ”, since the 26-year-old quarterback has a record of 3 games won and no defeat against the Chiefs with Mahomes as quarterback.
Pureval also took the opportunity to remember last season’s victory against the Chiefs, on that occasion the result was 27-24. On the other hand, the mayor announced that he will proclaim January 29 as “They Gotta Play Us Day” or “Día que nos juegan” in Spanish.
Super Bowl 2022 bet
Last season the Bengals reached the Super Bowl, however on that occasion they were defeated by the Los Angeles Rams. The mayor of Cincinnati and the mayor of Los Angeles announced a bet, which was that the losing mayor would wear the winning team’s jersey in a public appearance, while the winning mayor would contribute to the losing city’s children’s hospital.
Almost a year after the announcement of that bet, Pureval, the losing mayor, seems to have not fulfilled his part of the deal. The Bengals have not been able to lift the Super Bowl, they have only settled for three runners-up, in 1982, 1989 and 2022.
