The star of Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and the Argentine team, Lionel Messi, does not stop causing furor after his conquest of the World Cup in Qatar 2022, because he was recently chosen as the best footballer of 2022 by the British newspaper The Guardian, leaving his clubmate, the Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, in second place.
This would be the second time that Mbappé has fallen behind Messi, as the Frenchman finished in second place during the Qatar 2022 World Cup, proving that PSG have the two best players on the planet.
“After a 2021/22 offseason, his first at PSG, nobody knew what to expect from Messi in the World Cup. But he came back from the European summer spitting fire. He scored goals and provided assists in the French championship and then led Argentina to glory for the first time since 1986 ″, noted the newspaper
This becomes the sixth time in his incredible career that Lionel Messi has been chosen as the best footballer of the year by the newspaper. A total of 206 people are in charge of voting for this award, of which 156 chose the Argentine for his great role in the World Cup and for the growth he has had at PSG.
The third place on the list to choose the best soccer player of the year was occupied by the Frenchman and star of Real Madrid, Karim Benzema, who could not be present at the World Cup in Qatar due to an injury he suffered in the days before the championship of the FIFA.
