The fight between the Mexican boxer Andy Ruiz and the American Deontay Wilder has become one of the most anticipated for this 2023 due to the importance it represents for the heavyweight category, a fact that even generated the response of Óscar de la Hoya about the possible winner of this match.
According to “The Golden Boy” the winner of this fight, which still does not have a confirmed date, would be the Aztec boxer, alleging that he is fully capable of defeating Wilder by knockout; the words appear as a preview for the confrontation that both boxers will have.
The rationale used by De La Hoya to give the winner of the fight is due to the knockout he gave Joshua earlier, so he is confident that Ruiz will be able to win and then try to snatch the belt from the British Tyson Fury.
“Andy knocked out Joshua in one of the biggest surprises of the century, the same can happen against Deontay Wilder,” said the “Golden Boy” during an interview with Figthype’s YouTube channel.
During the interview, the Golden Boy also highlighted the weaknesses that Wilder has and that Ruiz can take advantage of to win, although it is a process that he must work to maintain his consistency in the ring.
“I feel that Andy Ruíz is a smarter and more passionate fighter than Wilder, who also has his virtues and manages the distance well, in addition to having a powerful jab, but what worries is his chin: it is not very resistant. If Andy lands the final blow, it was all for Wilder, ”he detailed.
The fight between the Mexican and the American was ordered by the World Boxing Council (WBC) to determine which of the two will be Tyson Fury’s next opponent. Both boxers reached this instance after “Gordito Power” defeated Cuban Luis Ortiz and the American defeated Robert Helenius.
