Orlando authorities reported the discovery of a dead woman on Interstate 4 (I-4) last Thursday night, forcing them to close the eastbound lanes near Orange Blossom Trail for several hours during the investigations.
According to officials, around 11:30 p.m. they received calls of cars crashing into what appeared to be a human body on eastbound I-4.
“When officers arrived on scene, an adult victim was found dead on the interstate and an unattended crash vehicle was located on the exit ramp from I-4 to southbound OBT,” police said in a statement. .
The victim was identified as Teqilla L. Shepherd, 39. Officials later said that she is the registered owner of the vehicle that was found totaled.
The lanes that were closed for approximately 12 hours while Orlando police worked to divert vehicular traffic from the area during their investigations. From that moment the lanes were reopened.
In a video, detectives can be seen taking photos of a wrecked vehicle on the side of the road near the scene of the lane closure. Afterwards, the car would have been towed away.
“At this time, we have more questions than answers,” officials said. Investigators are working to determine what led to this incident and Shepherd’s death, Fox35 reported.
