crash-between-tour-bus-and-cargo-truck-leaves-six-dead-in-new-york

At least six people were killed in upstate New York after a cargo truck and a tour bus collided on Saturday in what authorities described as a “horrific” crash.

About 15 people were aboard the bus when it crashed head-on into the truck around 6 a.m. Saturday on State Highway 37 in Louisville, a small town on the US-Canada border, state police said.

The man behind the wheel of the cargo truck was the only one in that vehicle.

Three other people were injured and rushed to hospital, including one in critical condition.

Until now, police officials have not disclosed which vehicle crashed into the other at the time of impact, and they have not revealed the names of the fatalities in the accident.

The highway was closed to vehicular traffic for 12 hours on Saturday.

Detectives are still investigating what led up to the freak accident, though some photos from the scene showed foot-high snowbanks on the side of the road.

The WWNY media reported that visibility could have been reduced at the time of the incident.

The tour bus appears to be affiliated with downtown New York-based solar power company LBFNY.

The cargo truck, a Penske rental, had a full load inside, police said.
