The Colombian Prosecutor’s Office reported the capture of a subject identified as José Antonio Barba Riaño, accused of attacking a young woman he had met through social networks, causing serious injuries to her entire body but surviving after escaping.
The Colombian authorities detailed that on December 21, the victim traveled from the town of Neiva to the city of Bogotá to meet with Barba, after he invited her through social networks.
“Apparently, the couple met at a previously defined point and, later, went to a house located in the Las Cruces neighborhood in downtown Bogotá,” says the Prosecutor’s Office.
After the woman entered the property, Barba Riaño reportedly beat her and subdued her to leave her in place for at least 18 days. The attacks continued throughout that time until the woman escaped and reported what had happened.
It was learned that the young woman would have suffered head, leg, arm and rib injuries.
“For these facts, CTI investigators captured the aforementioned aggressor. A Bogotá prosecutor presented him before a judge and charged him with the crime of attempted femicide,” the authorities explained via Twitter.
Finally, after his capture, the man did not accept the facts, for which the authorities assure that he must comply with a security measure in a prison.
