Mexican motorsports is in mourning after the death of the 17-year-old teenager Federico Gutiérrez Hoppe, one of the main promises of Nascar, was confirmed this Monday.
The young man known as “Fico” died during a car accident, recorded on the Toluca-Valle de Bravo highway in Mexico.
The Mexican press detailed that the Nascar and Trucks Mexico Series driver was driving a sports car, Porsche Boxster model, in the company of his brother, Max Gutiérrez, when they collided head-on with a truck.
Due to the seriousness of the accident, the ‘adolescent ‘Fico’ Gutiérrez died at the site of the event. One of the crew members of the other vehicle was injured and was taken to a nearby hospital.
In 2022 Gutiérrez was named Rookie of the Year, after debuting in the Nascar Challenge that year. In 2021 he finished third in the Trucks México Series standings, after achieving two wins and nine podiums.
Through the social networks of the Nascar México Series, they mourned the death of ‘Fico’ Gutiérrez, and expressed their condolences to his family and friends.
