get-to-know-billy-corgan's-old-new-york-loft-that-was-put-up-for-sale

American musician Billy Corgan, known for the band The Smashing Pumpkins, owned a luxurious loft in SoHo, New York, from 1998 to 2005.

Now the same property entered the real estate market with a cost of almost $11 million dollars. Corgan sold this place to its current owners in 2005 for $3.81 million, so the owners expect to make a significant profit.

The musician also made a profit when he sold the loft 18 years ago, as he paid $1.42 million for the place in ’98 and ended up receiving $3.81 million.

The property is housed in a historic red brick building. It was originally built in 1883 under the design of architect Jarvis Morgan Slade. For the last decade of the 20th century, the place was transformed into a residential building and its transition was in charge of the architect Lawrence B. Bogdanow.

By the time Corgan purchased the property in 1998, the building had just been converted to loft units. According to ‘Dirt.com’, it was a crude shell with a new plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning system.

The former Corgan loft, which is now for sale, is located on the third floor and has an extension of 4,500 square feet distributed in three bedrooms, three bathrooms, hall, living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, office , library, media room and other amenities.

The high cost of the property currently has a lot to do with the renovations made by its current owners, since now the space is much more luxurious and modern than when the musician left it.

Inside, several details stand out, such as original columns, a minimalist gas fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows and more.
