The Argentine star Lionel Messi starred in several controversial moments during the Qatar 2022 World Cup, and now more than a month after the event he has spoken about it.
In an interview with Andy Kusnetzoff from Urban Play, Messi was self-critical about his attitudes in the World Cup, especially for what happened in the match against the Netherlands.
“I knew everything they had said before the game, what Van Gaal had said. Even some of my classmates told me ‘you saw what he said, he lowered it on purpose’. When it all ends, I didn’t like what I did, I didn’t like the ‘go there’ and all that,” Messi said in the interview.
The Argentine justified his actions with the tension that existed in that instance of the World Cup and the rivalry with the Netherlands team.
“These are moments of great tension, of great nervousness and everything happens very quickly. One reacts as one reacts, but nothing was planned. It was giving I don’t like to leave that image, but these are things that happen, ”she added.
If something is certain, it is that Messi lived the World Cup in Qatar as he had never experienced a World Cup, because it was a debt that he had with himself and with his people, and that he had dreamed of all his career.
“Since we won the World Cup, everything has changed for me and for the whole world. It was something impressive. Now we can say that we are world champions. Luckily, what we dreamed of so much already happened, what I had wanted so much during my career and well, it almost came to an end ”, he declared.
