The solid victory that Serbian Novak Djokovic left at the Australian Open this Sunday after defeating Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final has catapulted him to number one in the ATP ranking, confirming his return to the top of the list.
Djokovic confirmed his return to the top of the table by adding 2,000 points for the win and accumulating 7,070 points, displacing the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz from the lead, who adds 6,730 and who lost only 90 points.
The tennis player achieved his tenth trophy in Australia just one year after his non-participation in the 2022 edition due to his refusal to vaccinate against Covid.
On the other hand, runner-up Tsitsipas added 480 points to the ranking with runner-up and displaced Casper Ruud from third place.
In this way, Djokovic begins his 374th week at the head of the ranking and stalks the absolute record of the German Stefanie Graf who accumulated 377 weeks as world number one.
