12-year-old-boy-was-shot-in-a-new-york-building

A 12-year-old boy was shot last night in the entrance of a residential building in Brooklyn (NYC).

According to the New York police, the minor was in the lobby of an apartment building on Bristol St. near Dumont Ave., in the Brownsville neighborhood, when shots were heard around 9:20 p.m.

The boy was shot in the left shoulder. Paramedics took the young victim to Maimonides Medical Center, in stable condition, reported Daily News.

A gun and casing were recovered in the lobby of the building, but it is unclear what caused the shooting and whether the boy was targeted or accidentally hit. The minor could not give details about the shooting or the attacker, reported NBC News.

There were no immediate arrests as police worked to locate the gunman. Anyone with information should call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) and in Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Also through crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or by text to 274637 (CRIMES), followed by TIP577. All communications are strictly confidential.

In a similar case, but with a tragic ending, teenager Dominick Allen died on Sunday after being left with a gunshot wound at a hospital in Harlem, Manhattan (NYC).

Young people are increasingly protagonists in gun violence in New York as victims and perpetrators, particularly shootings and attacks with bladed weapons.
