a-messi-autographed-jersey-raised-$59,000-in-charity-auction

This Tuesday, a jersey autographed by Argentine star Lionel Messi raised a total of $59,000 dollars in a charity auction in favor of a children’s hospital in Argentina.

The clothing was given to the presenter and actress Mirtha Legrand, just a month and a half after the Albiceleste was proclaimed world champion.

The organizing foundation of the event told the EFE news agency that the auction was closed in favor of the pharmaceutical company Norgreen, located in Buenos Aires.

The auction began with an amount of $2,700 dollars and was held during the Solidarity Gala of the FUNDAMI foundation.

The money raised will be donated to the Victorio Tetamanti Maternal and Child Hospital in the city of Mar del Plata.

Legrand, 95, is the honorary godmother of the foundation, and told the media that she received the shirt after speaking with Messi’s mother, Celia Cuccittini.
