A group of 20 Republican-ruled states filed a lawsuit led by the conservative organization America First Legal to stop the program for immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
That effort is led by Stephen Miller, a former political adviser to former President Donald Trump and creator of his major anti-immigrant programs, including Title 42.
However, the coalition of defenders of the rights of immigrants, including We Are All America, launched against the lawsuit that they describe as “politically motivated”, presented by states such as Florida, Tennessee, Louisiana and Alabama, against the government of the president. Joe Biden.
He adds that the 20 states seek to leave immigrants from the mentioned countries without protections, in addition to describing the effort as a “racist” action.
Paula Muñoz, organizational director of the Florida Immigrant Coalition, explains in “El Diario Sin Límites” why the effort by Miller and the Republican states is considered a “racist action” and the problems faced with a possible success of that lawsuit.
>> What is Stephen Miller, former political adviser to Donald Trump, doing?
>> Why is the demand of 20 Republican states against immigration protection for immigrants considered “racist”?
>> Is the lawsuit part of a broader anti-immigrant campaign?
