This Tuesday the Ecuadorian Football Federation announced the end of the Qatar 2022 World Cup period, through an economic balance that exposes million-dollar debts and defaults on late payments.
The directors of several clubs presented their accounts at the Ordinary Congress held in the city of Guayaquil and demonstrated the debts that caused anger in several team leaders such as Luis Chango, from Mushuc Runa.
The Federation recognized that to date they have considerable debts, among the most important are that of former coaches Hernán “Bolillo” Gómez and Gustavo Alfaro.
With “Bolillo” Gómez they have a debt of about $189,000 dollars, although the federation’s directors had announced a few weeks ago that they had canceled about two million dollars.
In Congress it was also warned that Alfaro is owed about $290,000 dollars, after his departure after the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
In addition, the directors of the FEF reported that there is a debt with the union of referees for $1,800,000 dollars, which, according to the judges, comes from the previous term of Carlos Villacís, who handed over command to Egas in January 2019.
The FEF accounts generated a reaction from other Ecuadorian football leaders such as Chango, who criticized Egas for maintaining unpaid amounts owed to clubs for three months for participation in the 2022 Ecuador Cup.
