Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin spoke publicly for the first time after going into cardiac arrest nearly a month ago in the middle of a game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Buffalo Bills shared a video on their social networks in which Hamlin expresses his thanks to all the people who supported him in that difficult moment.
“Now that my brothers have wrapped up a solid winning season, and I’m still on the mend, I think it’s finally a good time to share a few things,” said the player.
Hamlin assured that he remained silent for several weeks, because the recovery, in all its aspects, has been complex.
“I think it was important for me to wait and speak publicly at the right time, as it was a lot to process within myself, mentally, physically and even spiritually. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all the love, all the support and everything that has come my way,” he added.
The player also took advantage of the moment to talk about what happened on January 2, and how that gave him a new life mission.
“What happened at Monday Night Football was an example of how God used me to share my passion and love straight from my heart with the whole world. That I can give back to the children around the world who need it most. That has always been my dream and that has always been what I have defended, ”he declared.
