While in the latest edition of the 50 Top Pizza guide, New York would rank as the best pizzeria in the US In its most recent ranking of the best pizzerias in the country, Yelp points to California.
Italian-born guide 50 Top Pizza ranked two pizzerias No. 1: Francesco Masanelli’s Masanielli in Caserta, Italy and Anthony Mangieri’s Una Pizza Napoletana on New York’s Lower East Side.
Yelp ranks Sapori Di 786 Grados, located in Pasadena, California, at number one on its list of best places for pizza.
The platform identified businesses in the pizza category, and then ranked those locations using a number of factors, including total volume and review ratings.
Sapori Di 786 Grados gets top reviews from locals and travelers. The acclaimed pizzeria headed by chef Ali Haider is known for its gourmet Neapolitan-style pizzas, inspired by flavors from around the world.
According to the Yelp review, each pizza at Sapori Di 786 Grados represents a different country. “Yelpers rave about the ‘Bombay Tikka Masala’ pizza, with classic Indian spices, and the ‘El Chapo’ pizza, which is topped with chorizo, cilantro and other Mexican-influenced flavors.
The top-ranked pizzeria on Yelp also offers vegan alternatives, as well as the option to add a gluten-free crust to any pizza.
Yelpers Say: “This restaurant hands down makes the best pizza I’ve ever had! I have been coming here quite regularly for over a year now and have tried most things on the menu and everything has been so delicious and amazing… One thing to note is that the pizzas cannot be customized as they are not They may add or subtract ingredients, however the flavors throughout are excellent as is. In addition to the delicious pizzas, the service here is exceptional. Every time I come here the head chef greets me and offers a house drink. Sapori Di 786 Grados has already been praised in the past, the pizzeria being awarded the Title of Best Restaurant in California by USA Today 2016.
Coming in at No. 2 on Yelp’s Best Pizzerias list is ¡Ciao! Pizza and pasta in Chelsea, Massachusetts. The place is known for its traditional wood-fired pizzas, handmade pasta dishes, and homemade desserts.
In third place is Zeneli Pizzeria and Cucina Napoletana in New Haven, Connecticut. “From Naples to New Haven, this trattoria-style restaurant embraces old-world Italian recipes. Each of the Zeneli brothers brings decades of experience in everything from ranching to cheese making to perfecting the art of the perfect pizza crust,” shares Yelp.
