A man in Argentina is accused of killing his father-in-law, robbing him, paying for a party for his friends, and then attending the victim’s wake.

Ezequiel Condori, 33, faces charges of “double qualified homicide by cruelty and criminis causae” for the murder of Raymundo Barrionuevo, 84.

The suspect faces a life sentence if convicted of the crime.
The incident was reported at around 7:30 am on January 15 at the victim’s home in Catamarca.

The Primer Impacto report citing Argentine media suggests that the old man was stabbed in the head, neck and thorax.

The victim’s body was discovered a day after the incident when one of his sons, José Barrionuevo, came to the house to bring him food and found the man lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

Police initially detained more than a dozen suspects as part of the investigation. However, the authorities were unable to establish the presence of the detainees at the scene.

It wasn’t until José watched the recordings from the home’s security cameras that he realized the suspect was walking the same way as his brother-in-law and alerted investigators.

“My father did not open the door to anyone who came to my house. We began to see the way he walked, how he moved his arm, his height, his physical build, and we began to suspect Condori,” the son told the Tveo Catamarca channel.

On January 24, the Police detained Condori after searching his home.

The suspect presented bodily injuries compatible with a defense attempt by Barrionuevo. At the home, officers recovered bloody clothing.

Preliminary information on the case indicates that Condori left Barrionuevo’s house after committing the murder and took a taxi to Balconsa, some 55 miles from the place of residence. There he paid for food and alcoholic beverages to friends, before paying off some debts he had for a long time.

Condori also attended the man’s wake, as “Juan for his house”, although he was nervous and crestfallen all the time.
