A 26-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound in the passenger seat of a parked car yesterday afternoon in the Bronx (NYC).
The unidentified victim was found in a Honda CRV on Union Ave. near E. 168th St. in Morrisania around 2:20 p.m. Monday, according to NYPD.
He was shot in the abdomen and pronounced dead at the scene. Police later determined the victim had been shot about a half mile away, on E. 163rd St. near Reverend James Polite Ave. in the Longwood neighborhood. Then someone led the wounded man to the place where he was found dead, reported Daily News.
His name was withheld as police worked to locate his family and determine the motive for the crime. No arrests have been made or suspects identified. In a similar case, early Saturday morning a male body was found inside a burned-out car in Queens. On Tuesday in the Bronx, a 25-year-old man was fatally shot in the head during an apparent confrontation inside an apartment he was visiting in a NYCHA building.
Young people are increasingly protagonists in gun violence in New York as victims and perpetrators, particularly shootings and attacks with bladed weapons.
