twitter-spain-fired-80%-of-its-staff-and-is-working-with-only-5-people

The arrival of Elon Musk on Twitter has meant drastic changes. The millionaire came to the management of the company with very sharp scissors and has cut a large number of employees globally, but in Spain perhaps he crossed the line, because according to a report by El Confidencial, the social network barely works with 5 employees, after the readjustments of the new CEO.

According to media reports, it has been made known that Musk has taken all kinds of measures to save expenses and make the social network more efficient, from eliminating toilet paper for the bathroom, to getting rid of staff that he considers unnecessary.

And as if that were not enough, he has asked that the people who stay put on their shirts and work with commitment. But in Spain things seem to be reaching the extreme, because according to local media, the cut reached 80% of the workforce.

It is said that the physical office of the social network in Spain has already been closed and that the company will continue to operate with 5 employees focused on sales and business.

Three and a half months after the arrival of Musk, the Madrid office was severely pruned, the layoffs have been confirmed and according to an employment regulation file (ERE) they have reached 24 of the 29 workers and will take effect on 8 February.

The labor sentence has established compensation for those affected of 33 days per year worked, compared to the 20 that the company initially sought.

Twitter is one of the technology companies that since November have been applying massive layoffs in the face of a slowing global economy.

Google, Microsoft, IBM, SAP, Amazon and Meta have not been immune to the new market conditions and have gotten rid of a significant part of their teams, but in the case of Twitter things have gone further.

We will have to wait and see what happens with this office, in which if someone is absent due to an emergency situation, they will have to operate with 20% less staff.
