Chelsea were finally able to take over the services of Enzo Fernández, a player they have been trying to sign for several weeks. In London, everything is happy, however, in Lisbon they seem not to be so happy despite the fact that the operation left Benfica a large amount of money.
One of those who seems not to be happy with the movement is the German coach Roger Schmidt, because in a certain way they disarmed the team’s midfield and in his last statements he was somewhat angry after the departure of the Argentine.
“Benfica is much bigger than any player. We need players who are happy playing on the team. If a player decides for himself that he wants to leave and a club pays the clause, we can’t do anything,” said the strategist, as Enzo forced his departure on two occasions, pressing and not showing up for the Portuguese team’s training sessions.
Benfica is currently the leader of the Portuguese championship with 50 points and has only lost one game, while in the Champions League they will have to face Bruges from Belgium for the first leg of the round of 16.
Despite the departure of Fernández, Schmidt gave his team a boost and stated that he is satisfied with what he has despite disarming the midfield in the middle of the season, “I am happy with the players who are here, I like the team. There is attitude and patience, they enjoy playing for Benfica”.
