Lionel Scaloni’s experience as a coach is quite limited, even so he led Argentina to be world champion; For now, the Argentine will continue as coach of the Albiceleste but with his young age he has a whole career ahead of him and recently in an interview he assured that he has a dream and that is to lead Deportivo La Coruña in Spain.

Scaloni wore the Dépor shirt between 1998 and 2006, he was part of that “Super Depor” with which he won a league in 2000 and the Copa del Rey in 2002. Therefore, the Argentine is very fond of the Galician club.

Regarding his career on the bench, Scaloni began as Jorge Sampaoli’s technical assistant in that Sevilla in 2016; Sampaoli himself took him to the Argentine national team as his second coach the following year and once Sampaoli’s cycle ended in 2018, the native of Pujato was given the opportunity to take the national team.

Currently Depor is not the same team that Scaloni left in 2006, the Spanish team was relegated to the Second Division in 2011, managed to be promoted the following year but in 2018 they would go back to the silver division and in 2021 after losing the playoffs for permanence they goes to the First Federation or third division.

Scaloni, for his part, recently renewed his contract with the AFA and will lead the world champion at least until the end of the World Cup in 2026, so the Argentine’s desire to lead the Galician club will have to wait for now.
