Fortune published the All-Stars list of the world’s most admired companies in its 25th edition, appreciating that while the biggest tech companies may be facing relatively difficult times, they continue to command the respect of global companies, as always.
To determine the top-ranked companies in 52 industries, 3,700 executives, directors and analysts were asked to rate companies in their own industry on nine criteria, from value of investment and quality of management and products to accountability. and the ability to attract talent.
After the voting, for the sixteenth consecutive year, Apple ranked first in the annual corporate reputation ranking, while Amazon and Microsoft followed in the famed ranking.
Financial firms gained recognition for navigating an inflation-ridden economy: JPMorgan Chase (position 5) reached its highest rank to date, while Morgan Stanley made its debut in the top 50.
Elsewhere, Costco Wholesale (position 7) surged ahead of its industry offering for its highest ranking, while Netflix fell from 9th place to 29th as fierce competition dented its historic dominance in streaming. .
For the listing, Fortune worked with its partner Korn Ferry, the management consulting firm. They started with a universe of approximately 1,500 candidates: the 1,000 largest US companies ranked by revenue, along with non-US companies in Fortune’s Global 500 database that have revenues of $10 billion or more.
They then separated the companies with the highest revenue in each industry, a total of 645 in 27 countries. The highest ranked companies were selected from that pool of 645. It should be noted that the executives who voted work at the companies in that pool.
